MERCHOLOGY VOLUNTEERS AT COLDWATER SPRING

On Tuesday Merchology volunteered with the Mississippi Park Connection and the National Park Service to remove three invasive plants from the beautiful Coldwater Spring in Minneapolis. Coldwater Spring was added to the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area in 2010 with the goal of restoring the landscape to its original state: an open landscape with oak savanna, prairie, and bluff top woodlands.

Our group of 22 volunteers from Merchology spent the day removing invasive plants like buckthorn and garlic mustard and then packing up and hauling the invasive plants to another location to be picked up. Once the invasive species are cleared volunteers will continue planting native species. The restoration project always needs volunteers, so if you are located in the Twin Cities metro get involved in restoring Coldwater Spring to its former beauty.

This volunteer project was in collaboration with the Mississippi Park Connection, which is one of our 1% for the Planet partners. Merchology joined 1% for the Planet back in September through our co-branding partnership with Patagonia. 1% for the Planet is an alliance of companies that are committed to leveraging their resources to create a healthier planet. That means that when you purchase custom Patagonia clothing and accessories through Merchology, both Patagonia and Merchology will donate 1% of the revenue earned to environmental causes.
